Prepare The Base And Drain

Clean and level the subfloor, then dry-fit the shower pan to check for gaps, rocking, or drain misalignment. The 2024 International Residential Code requires finished shower floors to slope toward the drain by 2 to 4 percent. It also requires the drain flange to form a watertight connection with the shower lining.

Apply the support material recommended for the pan structure. Lower the unit into place without twisting the waste connection, then check each edge with a level while preserving the built-in drainage slope. Fasteners must remain outside the protected waterproof area.
