How To Replace A Shower Pan

2026-06-30

A shower pan should be replaced when cracks, movement, poor drainage, or hidden leakage cannot be repaired reliably. Since the base connects with the drain, waterproof layer, walls, and shower fittings, accurate measurement is essential before removal.

Remove And Inspect The Old Pan

Remove the enclosure, trim, lower wall finish, and drain cover. Disconnect the waste pipe, then lift or cut out the old pan without damaging concealed plumbing. Inspect the subfloor for moisture, rot, corrosion, or movement. Repair damaged support before installing the new base.

Prepare Drainage And Waterproofing

Confirm the opening size, drain position, threshold height, wall thickness, and valve location. Dry-fit the pan and make sure it sits level without rocking. Follow the specified support method and connect the outlet with the correct seal.

The International Plumbing Code requires shower liners to retain at least 51 mm of water for no less than 15 minutes without visible leakage. EN 14527:2016+A1:2018 covers test methods, cleanability, and durability for domestic shower trays.

Install And Test

Integrate the pan flange with the waterproof wall system before restoring tiles or panels. Keep fasteners outside protected waterproof zones. Check drain alignment, support stability, sealed joints, standing water, and compatibility with the mixer and enclosure.

OEM ODM And Bulk Project Control

A manufacturer can coordinate drawings, dimensions, samples, inspection, and repeat production more directly than a trader using separate suppliers. The sourcing checklist should confirm pan dimensions, drain standard, waterproofing method, outlet spacing, packaging, spare parts, and export compliance.

TOPSHINE operates a 16,000-square-meter production base and supports product development, assembly, quality inspection, and OEM or ODM projects. Its Shower Mixers, columns, heads, and accessories can be matched to project drawings, helping maintain consistency from sample approval through bulk delivery.
